About the Author:

Travel for me was a passion from the day I discovered there was more world to see. I was never content to merely daydream. Nor would I be satisfied with the vicarious travel offered by movies and books. So I set about making travel feasible before I could afford it. Taking to heart an old saw my mother was found of reciting, I made "where there's a will there's a way" my personal mantra.

Through reading and conversations with travelers, especially budget travelers, much was learned. And every trip I took expanded my knowledge base. Then I discovered the home-based travel agent opportunity. Being on the business side of travel opened the door to some spectacular discounts, including the occasional free flight or free hotel stay.

But stellar discounts were not always available. Sometimes the travel agent discount was no better than discounts available to anyone. So my quest continued. Gems were unearthed and, in time, I decided to share my knowledge in a seminar/class I created and named The Art of Discount Travel, a class that has been taught in Community and Continuing Education departments of dozens of colleges across the USA.

Description:

No matter your travel style, the purpose of this book is to help you substantially lower the cost of flights and lodging. The Art of Discount Travel: Your Guide to Cheaper Flights & Cheaper Nights provides a wealth of cost-cutting strategies and resources. Personal in style, the book is sprinkled with the author's instructive travel anecdotes and sense of humor. In addition to the many discounting strategies, a handful of workable strategies for securing the ultimate discount: free flights and free lodging is included.

Harambee K. Grey-Sun
About the Author:

Harambee K. Grey-Sun is a poet and metaphysical/speculative fiction writer. The word best describing his work is dark. He uses elements of fantasy, horror, noir, and science fiction to spin bizarre, mind-bending, and (some might say) heretical tales that explore the meaning of identity and the nature of consciousness. His metaphysical fantasy series Eve of Light reexamines the nature of God and what it means to be human.

Steven London
About the Author:

I spent the better part of my life listening to the stories of the last three generations.  It was more than just luck that I had the opportunity to hear first hand of these tales. Older people talk about their lives not so much that the young ear will understand.  It gives them a chance to relive their lives and remember how they reached a particular point in their lives.

From this vantage point, I write.  I memorized their stories, not in just the words spoken, but of the meaning behind the words.  I don't know if the relatives who poured out their lives to a young child would be happy or angry in that I have taken their stories to heart.  Maybe they would be surprised that someone actual listened and understood them.

As in this novel, TRUST, or the characters in upcoming books, ask and have answered is an intrinsic question.  A question that we as humans ask ourselves near the end of our days, "Was i loved? Was I truly loved for myself?"  How do you answer that question for yourself today?

Description:

This novel tells a tale of New York City about one of the last centuries noteable characters.

Mrs. Helen London: it was a title she never rightfully earned.  She lived a charmed and equally tragic life.  As an irrefutable New York beauty of her generation, she was desired by many but only a few held. Mrs. Helen London was a woman from a questionable background who after a sensational trial became a woman of wealth at the height of the Great Depression.

The novel chronicles her as lies, loves and death follow her.  It is an amazing tale of an amazing woman.  Although the time period is the early twentieth century, the themes resonate as current as today.  Only technology and fashion change, people remain the same.  Equally intriguing is the fact that Helen London was my great aunt.

About the Author:

Born in NYC and having travelled and lived around the world I have been influenced by the works of James Redfields' Insights about syncronies and how  the people we meet and the events in our lives can show us a new way of living.  I like others of our time realize that our thoughts are very powerful and fear dominates our reactions in most things on earth. By changing from Fear to Love we can achieve anything. I tried to use local events from newspapers and historical events to illustrate these ideas.  The writings of Pople John Paul 11 have not only inspired me but give us great hope in the future of mankind and for me confirm the belief that we are on the brink of a universal spiritual revival.

Take a journey through different ages from the Russian revolution to life with the Carthars,to present day life in the UK.  While  Marchell and Johnny search for "Their Place" they encounter and try to influence the lives of those on earth and help them to understand our destiny -is to create heaven on earth. Stanley Miller
About the Author:

I am a retired electrical engineer that became alarmed upon learning my doctor's diagnosis of onset diabetes.  This concern lead me to finally do something about losing weight to try to mitigate the oncoming health problems. My doctor recommended losing at least 10 to 20 pounds as a start, which I began immediately. Concurrently, I began research  to determine the best healthy diet to lose and then maintain a new permanent, target weight. As I describe in the book, I was able to lose weight remarkably fast and with amazing results. Not only did the weight dissapear but my health situation significantly changed for the better as well.

My wife was impressed with my diet and encouraged me to share my story with others that may be overweight or obese. She knew there were many people that could benefit from this diet plan. As a result of her gentle proding, I am now the proud author of my first book.

If any reader wishes to ask a question or share information, I can be reached by email geewhizztoo@gmail.

Description:

This book is autobiographical in the sense that it is about my struggle with obesity most of my adult life and what I have done to conquer it. A fight that has finally ended as I am no longer obese. I am no longer overweight, and best of all, I am successfully maintaining a healthy, active weight. I could say journey to success was difficult and filled with dreadful sacrifice, but it was not. It was, in fact, surprisingly easy. Clearly one cannot lose more than fifty-five pounds and maintain this loss without a little discipline and sacrifice, but the payback far exceeds the small price one pays. What is it worth to gain better health, and physical liberation in the form of new strength, agility, balance, and energy? Good health is of paramount importance, particularly as we advance in age. If one is age 49 or older, chances are, they want to capture at least a portion of their youth. They want to be in good health, move without pain, and look good, lively, and attractive. They want to enjoy life and feel wanted by the people who are special in their life. People under 49 want these things, too, of course, and this diet plan will work just as well for them. Though this book has a primary focus toward the  more advanced in age, it is as critical for children and young adults among us. The overweight young people face serious social pressures daily, which affect relationships, confidence and self-esteem; their addiction-like eating habits to the wrong foods and lack of consistent, moderate exercise is putting them at risk to a life-long battle against overweight and unhappiness.

The book gives the reader an account of the many benefits they will receive. Not only will they feel better but they will look better. Stylish clothes will fit right and look right. Their self-esteem will get a big boost, and they will be the envy of friends and pride of their family. Personal relationships can improve as well because when you like you, others will like you.

What is the value of these benefits? Health is priceless. Sadly, many do not realize this until they lose it. What is your appearance worth? A lot based bythe money spent on beauty and vanity products and services bought each year. What are the value of personal relationships and self-esteem? They too are priceless, right.

My story, 75/Fifty Five…Fit and Fat Free, presents a simple to understand and implement strategy. A plan to eat healthily, lose weight to meet your target goal, and then maintain the new permanent you.. If you want to reacquire a part of your pain free, look attractive, more lovable and stylish youth, this is the diet for you. If a 75 year old man can do it, so can you.

About the Author:

I've had a lifetime of pleasure in writing short stories. I wrote The Geode Room so that I could bring some of my favorite characters to a setting that would allow me to more fully develop their personalities and understanding of life. I'm very interested in understanding people's feelings, and learning to know more about the interconnectedness they share with others in the development of their lives. Reader input has taken this process full circle for me, providing insights into both my storyline, and the private stories of readers, too.

Description:

The Geode Room has provided me with a setting to share the wisdom I've learned throughout my life. It's a fun and interesting story that encourages readers to become deeply involved with both the characters and setting. Many readers of the first edition of this book have contacted me to share their satisfaction with having known my characters in this lengthy multigenerational perspective on their lives.

He is currently writing a short story collection called Stories From The Abyss and a novel about expelling the Russians from Crimea. He holds a Master of Arts in Military Studies from American Military University.

"I have twenty short stories and three novels in my head!"

Description:

Korea x2 (Book One)

The Korean CIA Director is killed by a North Korean assassin.  Counterfeiting, drugs, and weapons of terror finance the North Korean government.  Three Air Force Pararescuemen and a CIA Officer join with the South Korean 707th Brigade, a team of female assassins, to form a team, known only by President Reagan and CIA Director Casey, as "the Silent Six."  Their task: the destruction of the North Korean gangster regime.  “The Silent Six” is the ultimate Special Operations Team.

Silent Six (Book Two)

Author David Joseph brings his most intriguing thriller yet—a terrifying story about terrorism and rescue—brilliantly paced with superb nonstop action.   While tracking the 9/11 terrorist hijackers at the “Kuala Lumpur Summit,” the Silent Six team are redirected on a rescue mission of sheer audacity and nerve--rescue a group of children being transported from Camp 14 in North Korea. Here is David Joseph’s heart-stopping masterpiece, a riveting novel about the most diabolical government and criminal syndicate that ever existed—the Kim regime and Office 39.

Putin’s Gold (Book Three)

Putin and Kim Jong Un unleash a deadly reign of global terror by hijacking a Malaysian airliner, shooting down a Malaysian airliner, and circulating the “PBF,” the Perfect Ben Franklin.  CIA Director Mike Perry followed the evil Office 39 Director for over thirty years and finally has a chance to eliminate him along with the Kim regime.  As an added bonus, the Federal Reserve cripples the Putin government through manipulating the oil markets, applying economic sanctions, and acquiring huge gold reserves in North Korea.  Putin’s Gold is a shocking novel paralleling real world events.

David Joseph's electrifying conclusion to the Korea Trilogy--now a media tie-in to two airliner incidents--will have you glued to the page right down to the last word.

To read this griot's poetic narrations about Home: Home - Guinea Land; Home - Africa; Home - Trinidad; Home - her Self; about family, about friends, about partnership, and about her guides is to unveil alongside her the positioning of the Orisas in all these aspects of her life...and to unveil subsequently their manifestations in one's own.

M. Bennett Crosby
About the Author:

As a child, I didn’t care much about reading or writing.  I was a slow reader and one of those left-handed writers that teachers in the late 1950’s thought should be taught to write right-handed. My penmanship looked as confused as I felt and I shied away from anything literary for decades.

My fascination with people took hold when I was twelve years old, delivering newspapers to every corner of my small home town. It was often the people that society tended to shy away from, that I found great joy in spending time with.

As a teen in the late 1960’s, I was confronted with my inability to change my sexual orientation. I’d known from an early age that I wasn’t like the other boys. I felt my pleas to God were unanswered. It never dawned on me that maybe I was exactly who I was created to be.

Over the years, I crossed this nation and back again, living in large cities and tiny rural towns. I’ve held jobs from sweeping floors to corporate management. Several years ago, in recovery from chemical dependency, I began to use writing as a tool for self-discovery as well as self-expression. I slowly came to love writing stories, largely to see what the characters might do next. Many stories later, Franklin was born.

Description:

Franklin Harrison is seventeen years old and about to enter his senior year of high school. Tormented by the teachings of his church that condemn him, he is desperate to change who he is. Franklin struggles to conform to what he has been taught is God’s will for him. This change that he seeks never comes.

When he loses the small solace he found in his love of photography and abandons his camera, any glimmer of hope slips away. He can no longer face the God he believes in or himself.

With all hope gone, the miracle of grace that is extended to him opens the door to a journey that soothes his soul. It leads Franklin to discover, and then share, the love and beauty that is within and around him.

Jon Petruschke
About the Author:

Jon Petruschke was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He holds a BA in psychology from the Pennsylvania State University and an MSS from Bryn Mawr College's Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. Upon the completion of his graduate studies, Petruschke relocated to Portland, Maine, with his wife and two cats. Since 2002, the four of them have lived happily in the cozy, vibrant neighborhood of Munjoy Hill. Shortly after the move, Petruschke founded a Portland-based writing group that is now in its twelfth year.

His short fiction has been published in the anthologies Philly Fiction and Philly Fiction 2. In her Philadelphia Inquirer review, Susan Balee called Petruschke's story "Bragging About Annie," which appeared in Philly Fiction, a "sweet and funny tale...a wonderful story--my favorite of the lot." Petruschke's poetry has been published in such journals as Poetic Hours; Paper Wasp; Children, Churches and Daddies; 3 Cup Morning; Open Minds Quarterly; Waterways: Poetry in the Mainstream; and the anthology In Our Own Words: Generation X Poetry.

While at work on his first novel, Petruschke began a blog, Basho and Jung. The blog's subject is dream haiku: short poetry inspired by and based on the content of his nightly dreams. Initially, it was a practice to cleanse his writing mind of the long stretches of prose in his novel; however, playing with his dreams inside of a tiny poetic form lead to the development of Petruschke's first book: a collection of poetry entitled Dream Haiku: Poems from Nights and Naps. Dream Haiku was recently self-published and is available on Amazon.

When not writing, Petruschke is a clinical social worker who supervises a team that assists and supports adults with severe mental illness in the Portland community.

Description:

Dream Haiku: Poems from Nights and Naps is a selection of the author’s honest, odd, and irreverent verse. Culled from the journeys that sleep gifts us, these poems are a range of otherworldly moments. Some impossibly surreal. Others comfortingly familiar. And many of them somewhere, somehow, true -- in our whimsies, our ideals, our desires. The haiku form, and its moments of contemplation and surprise, are a perfect fit for the dream world’s startling images, pieces of conversation, and emotional residues. These are the experiences we so often forget and dismiss. Yet every night, we return to them.

Astrid’s father stared out of the window, down to the New York streets below. He feared for his daughter but was careful to show no emotion. A Clerical Agent from Dess, stood behind him, dressed in the same garb as the old man at the wedding. He spoke quietly with a smooth, Caribbean baritone, his hand resting on the back of Astrid's Father's office chair,

‘We know about the portfolio - the accounts. It’s OK. Perfectly understandable - given your daughters complete lack of formation and faith.’

He removed his hand and proceeded to walk about the office, casually eyeing-up it’s contents, like they were part of some new acquisition,

‘No matter. As you know, she’s been very fruitful in yielding Readers and her research has proved to be very interesting indeed. Your concealing her talents has actually worked out for the best.’

Astrid’s father was motionless. He continued to stare out of the window as if he were alone.

‘...Your wife, true to form, has struck a deal with the 9th Chamber. She and your daughter are safe. You get a little time and your life. But after this is over? - Excommunication. And you better make provision... because we are taking it all back - everything.’

David T. Pennington
About the Author:

David T. Pennington grew up in a small northern California town called Paradise, but his home is in San Francisco. While his associate’s degree in computer programming has helped pay the bills, his bachelor’s degree in psychology has informed his writing. His love of fiction—mainly mysteries, science fiction, and thrillers—is balanced by his fascination with books on futurism, theoretical physics, and cosmology. Peer Through Time is his debut novel.

Description:

In 2079, a time travel experiment sends physicist Carmela Akronfleck further back in time than she’d intended. Though she’s still in her small northern California town, the year is 1936 and she must learn to live without the technology she’s come to rely on. Her neurological implants should be dormant, but she receives a cryptic message, periodically accompanied by an audio transmission from the future. It’s the voice of her former psychotherapist, an android named Kass, stating his innocence in a series of murders occurring in 2079.

When Carmela deciphers the code as a hit list, she's shocked to discover her mother and sister are among the intended targets. Further evidence reveals the killer's true identity, but the inoperative time portal prevents her from returning to save her family and vindicate Kass.

She considers another option: hunt down the killer's ancestors and avert his existence without radically changing history. She devises a plan to protect her family, haunted by doubts that she's becoming the kind of person she's always loathed—one willing to take another's life.

About the Author:
Description:

"Paul is dead" was only the beginning.

It's 1970 and Beatle fans around the world comb the album covers and listen to Beatle songs forward and backward, trying to find “clues” that might lead to a logical solution or confirmation to the rumor that “Paul is dead.”

When two college radio DJ's join the search, they learn what the clues REALLY mean and begin an odyssey that takes them far beyond their studio. They discover a conspiracy to create a genuine Utopia, a true "Octopus' Garden." They are launched into a world-wide intrigue and quest that very quickly changes their lives forever.

After forty years, Jeff Scott finally reveals the solution to the mystery and confesses that the “clues” were not clues—no quotes necessary. The were guides that led to a life-changing experience and a life changing place: a genuine “Octopus’ Garden” beneath the waves.

Based on actual events and people, the story is an authentic excursion through the dreams of the Beatle Generation. But where does reality end and imagining begin?

The book recaptures the spirit and excitement of Beatlemania and--perhaps most important--the time when Beatle fans and Baby Boomers felt there was something special going on in their world.

Terry Nelson
About the Author:

I became interested in this story for a few reasons. One is that I love movies. I took  film courses in college, wrote a script to attain enough college credits in order to graduate, managed theatres, and reviewed films for a newspaper for over ten years, and now post them on my website, terrynelson.net. Also I enjoy reading about historical and cultural events, and true life unsolved mysteries are fun to research.

I also knew, many years ago when I was in high school, an elderly housekeeper, who I came to find out, was once married to a Hollywood producer during the silent era. She was reluctant to talk about that period of her life, but one day she opened up, telling why she didn't like talking about those days, then softened a little, mentioning people she knew, and the kind of parties that went on. I don't recall her ever talking about it again. I did, however, gain some knowledge about the time and place which I tried to incorporate into the story.

Without revealing too much-this is a mystery after all-my ending is different than might be expected. The challenge was placing the killer at the scene using the facts of the case, not altering them in anyway for the sake of convenience. Using the events of that night, including a possible eye witness, is a challenge for anyone to place any killer, save one at the scene. I do believe that knowing of incidents leading to the murder, as well as studying the people involved, that this is a very likely scenario. But of course there could be others, but I chose this character as the killer, not only because of the likelyhood, but also because of the literary and dramatic effect to end the story.

Description:

Being a movie fan, the unsolved murder of silent film director William Desmond Taylor in 1922 has always fascinated not only me, but many others. And who doesn't like solving a mystery? More than three non-fiction books have researched the murder; all arriving at a different killer. There have been documentaries made. Even a graphic novel. There are plenty of suspects, including two leading actresses. There is possible police corruption and a cover-up, evidence that goes missing, and a key suspect that disappears and is never heard from or seen again. The murder captivated the country during a period when the Fatty Arbuckle case was going on and many civic groups were calling for banning movies in their cities. Hollywood was in a panic. And newspapers and magazines creating lurid and sensatonal stories did not help.

In my fictionalized account, Chester Koski, a writer for Famous-Players Lasky, is told by a studio executive to find out what happened at the bungalow of murdered silent film director William Desmond Taylor.

Chet and his wife Eveleen, who appeared in my novel "Loonies in the Dugout," are aided by a police detective who apprises Chet of the investigation, and by a 22-year old wealthy flapper, a friend of Eveleen. Things get complicated for Chet when someone steals his new radio and then is accused of murdering Gawen Wainright, a drug addicted actor friend of Eveleen.

There are many suspects: Actress Mabel Normand who was the last to see Taylor alive; Mary Miles Minter, a young actress enamored of Taylor; Minter’s overprotective mother Charlotte Shelby; Tom Dixon, wealthy pencil heir and jealous suitor of Minter; Patricia Palmer, an actress involved in shady activities; and Edward Sands, Taylor’s former valet and known thief who has disappeared.
